Michelle Obama, spare the curtains….

A dear friend from London sent me this picture of a very sleek Catherine meeting Mrs Obama, to show me the 175 pound nude sheath dress Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge wore from a High Street Brand called Reiss, which led to such a furious stampede virtually to buy said dress, that their website crashed. Apart from the gladden my cockles fact that good girl Catherine is not dipping too deep into the family vault to fund her public appearances, what really hit my eyes was what Michelle Obama was wearing.

This is what the internet tells me it was. Her 50s-shape floral dress in mint was from the latest collection by Barbara Tfank.A metallic pink cropped swing jacket and jewelled brooch completed her look.

And then, there was this illfitting horror, something straight out of Grecian drama, which did nothing for her body structure.

It was a Tom Ford white gown with a crisscross halter neckline, yes, but it could have done with a sleeker fitted skirt, rather than the flowing, debutante look that was more coming out ball than power lady.

And they’re rhapsodising about what she’s been wearing out there in the media. Maybe, I’ve got it wrong. Maybe curtains are high fashion. After all, Scarlett O’Hara put them to good use once too.

Me think for her broad shoulders this criss cross halter was oh so so wrong!!

Michelle’s dress and shrug looked much better face-on – there are other pictures. I think the outfit suffers from photo-flash effect – it looked rather elegant in the pictures of her walking outside (suited the grey London weather!)

And I must be one of the few – I rather disliked Catherine’s dress – too bland, and boy, she needs to gain back some weight!

No comments on Michelle’s gown – I don’t like many of the gowns she chooses for formal events, but I adore the way she wears everything – so confident about herself and her body!

I don’t understand the fuss over Michelle’s supposedly great sense of fashion. It looks very overwhelming. I like Kate’s sheath dress much better!

  4. I don’t think Michelle looks that bad

Ha ha! Just LOVE the reference to Ms.O’Hara 🙂

  6. You have a sense of humour and a tart tongue! But I guess you already know that 🙂 enjoyed your wicked post, and yes, it was amazing the way the fashion police went gaga over the Grecian horror! (I can only imagine the gaga was more in line with the Lady of that name :))

Nice to find others who echo my feelings. Sometimes I feel I am the odd one out when everyone is screaming fashion forward for Mrs Obama.

Kiran, you are most assuredly not alone. Please come and visit us at Michelle Obama’s Mirror. You will find many kindred souls there.

You are spot on. You can find fashion horrors displayed by Moochelle almost daily.
The press lie about her fashion sense, as they lie about everything else related to
    the O administration.
